Preview: 2010 Lotus Evora

Preview: 2010 Lotus Evora

Lotus has been known for some time now to make cars that handle like they are on rails. In a way they seem like street legal racing carts but I would not want to diminish the true value of a Lotus by calling them go-carts. The new 2010 Lotus Evora is additional proof in that Lotus is serious about performance and tickling the fancy of true car enthusiasts.

We will have our chance to get our hands wrapped around the steering wheel of an Evora hopefully in February. It has been confirmed; the all new 2010 Lotus Evora will become available in early 2010 with a price tag of around $73,500. Already, the first few months of the allotment of Evora’s has been spoken for.

The new 2010 Lotus Evora is the newest addition of Lotus’s lineup since the introduction of the infamous Elise in 1995. The Evora will be a mid-engine layout powered by the proven 3.5-liter Toyota V6. Don’t let that fool you, the Toyota V6 has been reworked to provide that throttle response you would expect out of a Lotus instead of your daddy’s Toyota Camry. Horsepower is rated at 276 @ 6,400 rpm and 258 pound-feet of torque @ 4,700 rpm.

The Evora should skedaddle from 0 to 60mph in about 4.9 seconds made possible through the 6 speed transmission from Toyota while getting a nice 30mpg on the highway. This power is transferred to the ground through 18 inch wheels up front and 19 inch in the rear. 4 pot Lotus AP Racing calipers biting down on cross-drilled discs will be responsible for bringing this high performance insect to a stop.

Two Lotus Evora’s should be making their way on a tour to each of the 44 Lotus dealerships in the U.S. within the next few months. Look for more information to make its way to AutomotiveAddicts.com in the next couple months before the Evora lands at a dealership near you.
